Friday Night Buffet at the Hyatt Trinidad: Feast Without Breaking The Bank!
Can you believe it’s February 2021 (almost March!) already? 2020 seems like a blur at this point, and I am sure that for you, as for me, it was a year of unbridled ups and downs! Although I have enjoyed a well-earned social media and blogging hiatus, all has not been silent for me behind the scenes. I have invested in many backend upgrades to hopefully make the site faster and more secure and have also plowed a lot of energy into live cooking on my Twitch stream and the wonderful “SN Famalay” that has been growing around it. But more on that in a future post!
Last Friday, I was delighted to enjoy a relaxed evening at the Hyatt Trinidad, during their re-started weekly buffets. Trinidad’s borders have been closed since March of last year, and that closure has affected many aspects of our life, from our annual Carnival (the tabanca is still real) to the hospitality industry. As a result the Hyatt Trinidad has presented many innovative offerings for the domestic “staycation” market, from 2 for 1 Breakfast Buffets, family mid-week deals, movie nights, waterfront Jenga, and of course the return of Friday night buffet themed nights!
On the night of my arrival, the theme was “Grill Night” and it definitely lacked for nothing!
From the aromatic Pistachio-Crusted Lamb
to the melt-in-your-mouth Pepper Dusted Ribeye
to the sophisticatedly flavored “mocktails” (not included in the pricing), nothing that touched my lips left me disappointed!
In fact, just as satisfying as the featured meat offerings were the desserts.
Although I enjoyed the cakes I sampled (Strawberry Chocolate Cake, New York Cheesecake and Pink Velvet Cupcake) I have to talk a minute about how surprised I was by the homemade taste and feel of the Coconut-Pine icecream. If you remember the days of salt-churned icecream machines you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about! Such a shame that I was so full at this point as I could easily have devoured 2 bowls!
This Friday’s theme (February 26) is Seafood Night, and the following (March 5) is Italian. Today’s Seafood Night also features all-you-can-eat sushi. All Friday night buffet theme nights serve a variety of salads, a live station, carving station and amazing desserts. Cost is $325TT per person (excluding vat and service charge). For reservations call 821-6550.
