Setting The Table – Sweet Han: Caribbean Cooking with Sarina (Ep. 2)

For Episode 2 of “Sweet Han’: Caribbean Cooking with Sarina” I was inspired by an image I saw of a small room that was ornately decked out in the French Provençal style. Also known as French Country Decorating, I appreciate this décor’s use of cool whites, distressed woods, and muted primary shades of reds, yellows and blues. For my spin on it I incorporated cream dinnerware, with white serving dishes, and wooden and brown accents such as my distressed candelabra and salad bowl. Set off with a dark blue wine bottle the overall effect was cool, yet softly intimate. An effect which was only enhanced by the addition that evening of candlelight.

    Sarina:
Thank you! I had become involved in so many projects last year that I simply did not attend to e-mails. Sometimes they can be overwhelming.
One of those is the baking I began in 2012. I have been an ‘oven’ person since my high school days at NGHS and I revived it to earn money after retiring from an active office life.
I concentrate on fruit and vegetable breads, puddings, muffins, etc. (The emphasis on the fruit and vegetable.) There’s a mini lasagne I especially love for finger eating. Then my own vegetable lasagne which my son encourages me to market.
The truth is I am a fruit person and would not cook if I can have a constant supply of fruits.
Just getting over a virus which hit me hard and today is my first comfortable day.
    Next time!

    Ann
